Mike Szabo
With the release of his 1st single at the tender age of 61, Mike has taken a bit of a different path in regards to his music. Mike does not remember a time that he did not have a song in his head but the thought of being a musician was at best a dream. In the midst of a major change in 2016, and at odds with life as he knew it, Mike received a call his nephew Justin suggesting some “guitar therapy”. From there and with Justin’s gentle push, Mike found a new passion for an old love, singing and playing guitar. He started attending local open mic nights to get a feel for the stage and in April 2017, he played his first show alongside Justin. There would be no going back and since then he has become a regular in Central Alberta as performer and a fan. Mike has emerged as songwriter and on May 13, he released his first debut single “A Song for Everyone”. A second singe “Already Gone” will soon follow. The songs that Mike writes are from his life and seem to connect easily with his listeners. Says Mike: “It’s the magic of music, its way of connecting people is very profound. When I see someone feel my song the way I do, there’s really no words to describe how that feels but it’s incredible! I hope the listeners will travel with me for a little while, it would sure be be nice to have the company!”
